About this photo: The most popular place to be in Istanbul for locals is the Taksim area
and taking a stroll down Istiklal Avenue. It is pedestrian only and
always crowded with Istanbulites and visitors like my boyfriend Mehmet
and me.
Best deal found: This February I found an amazing deal on Turkish Air for $450 round trip
from New York to Istanbul. I found a deal on an apartment in the trendy
Taksim area on Bookings.com. Public transportation is a deal at about
$1.30 but can get very crowded during rush hours. Everyone needs to take
the local ferry across the Bosphorus to Asia and back to Europe (or the
other way around) for an unforgettable trip. My favorite is the ferry
from Eminonu (Europe) to Kadikoy (Asia) just before sunset.
